Carrie Marie Underwood is an American country music singer. Her career began in 2005 when she won the fourth season of American talent show American Idol. She prevailed in the final against rock singer Bo Bice. With the win came a record deal from Arista Records. Underwood's debut single "Inside Your Heaven" sold over 100.000 copies in its first week and went straight to number 1 on the Billboard charts. Overall, her debut single sold over 200.000 copies, earning her her first platinum record.

In 2007, Underwood received two Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Vocal Performance for Jesus Take the Wheel. The song was also nominated for Best Country Song and Song of the Year.
