In 1997 Schreyl began his career as
TV presenter. First he worked at the MDR as a newsreader, later as a sports editor, -
reporter and moderator. On October 2, 2000 he switched to ZDF and became the presenter of the magazine show Hallo Deutschland. He also presented boxing nights for ZDF, reported on the Olympic Games in Athens and moderated one for a year and a half
New edition of the quiz classic The Grand Prize.

He has been with RTL since 2005. As a permanent moderator of Deutschland sucht den Superstar, Schreyl worked in seven seasons until 2012.
