Since 1987, the palace orchestra has dedicated itself to dance and film music from the 20s and 30s, with their charmingly funny lyrics and soulful melodies. The palace orchestra made its breakthrough in 1992 with Max Raabe's first in-house production "Kein Schwein calls mich an". What was intended as a joke hit like a bomb and helped the versatile musicians to an unexpected degree of popularity. Especially the live concerts with their variety shows are a real experience!

The revival of the pre-war hits is hugely popular with audiences. They were the first to take a more professional approach to this, and were rewarded by audience response. Almost all of the members of the 13-strong orchestra can play several instruments and are excellent soloists, as they prove again and again with skilful solo performances at their concerts.
