With his first album Life in Cartoon Motion, he made a debut in 2007, which was positively received by both critics and listeners. To date, he has sold almost three million records worldwide. The songs he wrote are clearly influenced by the pop music of the 1970s and 1980s.
At the 2007 World Music Awards, Mika received awards in the categories Best Selling British Artist, Best Selling New Artist, Best Selling Male Entertainer and World's Best Selling Pop Rock Male Artist. In addition, Mika received both an Echo in the category "Newcomer international" and a Brit Award for best newcomer.

His second studio album The Boy Who Knew Too Much was released in 2009; before that, the lead single "We Are Golden" hit the international charts.
