Sometimes one band is not enough - many musicians
like to experiment with sidekick experiments. In this case Mike Rutherford, actually songwriter and guitarist of Genesis. In 1985 he founded Mike & The Mechanics. From the very beginning, the band didn't stop at a possibly meager commercial niche existence. On the contrary, the fans are fully involved. Already the album debut, simply titled “Mike & The Mechanics”, can be found
tearing heel.

With “Silent Running” and “All I Need Is A Miracle”, the long player also throws off two single hits that have been placed worldwide. Over many decades and membership changes, Mike Rutherford's understanding of music has primarily shaped the sound and songs. Mike & The Mechanics always see themselves as a grown-up band somewhere between pop and rock. The emphasis on synth sounds, which was particularly concise in the eighties, is opposed to the increased focus on blues and soul in later years.

And: a Touch Genesis is of course never missing.
