Italy: his most successful song, "Ti amo", was later covered by Howard Carpendale and again sold very well in German.

Umberto Tozzi was initially a successful guitarist and songwriter, later he began to sing himself. In the early 70s he worked as a composer for Mina and Lucio Battisti, among others. His "Gloria" also made the top 10. American Laura Branigan re-released the same track and had a top ten hit worldwide. Together with Raff, Tozzi performed at the 1987 Grand Prix with the song “Gente di mare”.
