Significantly influenced by Travis and The Libertines, she began playing acoustic guitar at the age of 15. She describes a performance by Pete Doherty in Glasgow as a key experience for her career: “It was a great show. A few friends and I would pass the guitar around afterwards and spontaneously play songs that we liked. That's when I knew I wanted to be a musician."
